Ideal School

Take a few moments to think about an ideal school. Imagine you found and run, study or teach in one. Describe it in 100-120 words.

Organise your writing into paragraphs:

  • Paragraph 1 (introduction): Where is your ideal school? How big is it? How many classes are there? How many pupils are there in each class?
  • Paragraph 2 (environment): What does the school building look like? How are the classrooms designed? What colour are the walls? What is there in each classroom? How are desks organised? Are there any plants, stations, nooks or reading corners?
  • Paragraphs 3 (special features): What facilities are there? Is there a park, greenhouse, gym, playground, or a swimming pool? What can pupils do during breaks? Do they organise some events together? If yes, what kind?
  • Paragraph 3 (school day): What is the timetable like? What time do the lessons start / finish every day? How long are the lessons? What do the pupils learn? How do they learn? Does your ideal school prepare the pupils for their future life?
  • Paragraph 5 (values and culture): Is your ideal school eco-friendly? How do you know? Do pupils feel safe? What rules must everyone follow? What happens when somebody breaks them? Are there any negative features?
  • Paragraph 6 (conclusion): Why is this school so special? Why is it a great place to learn? What do you like about it? What final thoughts have you got about your ideal school?

Ideal Neighbourhood

 Imagine moving to a neighbourhood which has got everything you've ever wanted. 

Write an email to your English friend and describe it in 100-120 words. Organise your writing into paragraphs. Don't forget to start with some opening remarks and 'Hi' or 'Dear' and end it with some closing remarks and 'Yours', 'Best wishes' or 'Love'!

These questions might help you:

Paragraph 1 (Introduction): What is an ideal neighbourhood to you? 
Paragraph 2 (Location): Is your ideal neighbourhood in a busy city or a quiet village? What do the streets, buildings and houses look like?
Paragraph 3 (Facilities):  Are there any parks, shops, cinemas or other facilities nearby? What can people do for fun?

Gerund or infinitive?

Do you know the difference between 'gerund' and '(to)infinitive'? Let's see!

Superheroes

Describe your favourite superhero/superheroine or create your own. Use about 60 - 80 words. Organise your writing into 6 paragraphs.
Paragraph 1 (Introduction): Who is your favourite superhero/superheroine? What is his/her real name? How old is he/she?
Paragraph 2 (Appearance): What does your superhero/superheroine look like? What does his/her outfit look like? What colour is it? Are there any special features? Have they got any accessories, like a cape, mask or special weapon?

Paragraph 5 (Stories): Can you describe an adventure with your superhero/superheroine? What does he/she do when they're not superheroes? Who are their family?
Paragraph 5 (Conclusion / Final thoughts): Why do you admire this superhero/superheroine? Why is he/she so interesting? Is there anything else you want to share?

My pet

Have you got a pet? If you haven't, would you like to have one?

Write about your pet or, if you haven't got one, imagine that you do. Use 60 - 80 words. Organise your writing into paragraphs:
Paragraph 1 (Introduction): What is your pet's name? What type of animal is it? How long have you had him/her?
Paragraph 2 (Physical description): What does your pet look like? What colour is he/she? How big is he/she?

What a place!

 Write about Kikinda or choose one of the places in Serbia. It can be a city, town or village. 

  • Write an article to describe the chosen place. Use 100-120 words.
    Organise your writing into 4 paragraphs:

Paragraph 1: What is its name? Where is it located? How many people live there?
Paragraph 2: What can tourists see there? What are its main landmarks? Why are they important?
Paragraph 3: What can tourists do there? What kind of entertainment is offered? Are there any special celebrations or festivals organised there?
Paragraph 4: Give your general opinion of this place. How do you feel about this place? What would you recommend?

  • Design a brochure for the place you know. It can be your hometown, or another town, city or village in Serbia.
    Include these headings:

How to Get There: Where is it located? How is it connected to the other places? How good is the public transport?
Places to See: What important sights can tourists visit? What places are worth visiting?
Things to Do: What interesting activities can tourists do? What can tourists do for entertainment?
Eating Out: Where can tourists try quality food?
