Readers

 Dear pupils,
I'm sharing with you a list of books to read as a team.
You can use any of the free Canva templates in the Templates folder, to review the chosen book. Just make a copy of the template and write the title of your book. I'd also kindly ask you not to delete other pupils' works.
In case you have any questions, let me know.
The deadline for finishing your work is the end of November. I hope a month is enough.
Enjoy reading =)

Gerund or Infinitive!

Do you know the difference between 'gerund' and '(to)infinitive'? Let's see!

Past Simple Tense

Can you spot the difference between what happened yesterday and what usually happens? We use the past simple to talk about things, our adventures, surprises, and everyday moments, that happened before now—yesterday, last week, or even five minutes ago!

I danced in the rain.

Yesterday, she met a talking parrot.

He didn't bring his homework.

We didn't eat a snack.

Did you visit the museum?

Did you see the rainbow after school?

Regular verbs often end in -ed, but watch out for those irregular ones!

Write 3-5 sentences about your weekend using past simple verbs. How did you feel? (e.g. I baked a cake and danced to my favourite song. It was amazing!)

In case you missed these quizzes last year, here they are again =)

EDL

On 26 September, people across Europe celebrate the beauty and value of languages. This day encourages language learning and highlights Europe's rich linguistic diversity.

To celebrate this year's theme Languages unite!, you're invited to join exciting international activities and competitions.

  • Poster Challenge: Create a poster showing how languages bring people together and help us understand one another.
  • Class Language Challenge: Take part in fun language tasks with your classmates and join thousands of learners across Europe.
  • T-Shirt Design: Design artwork for the official EDL T-shirt and promote multilingualism through creativity.

Why languages matter?

  • They help us communicate with people from different cultures.
  • They allow us to share ideas, thoughts, and feelings.
  • They open doors to new experiences and opportunities.
  • They encourage respect and understanding.

Join the celebration and show how languages unite!

Present Tenses

Can you tell the difference between Present Simple and Present Continuous?

We use the present simple to talk about things we do regularly:
I usually play boardgames at the weekends.
She listens to music every day.

We use the present continuous to describe what's happening now:
I'm writing an e-mail.
They're playing basketball at the moment.

Try this quiz and become an expert!

What do you usually do on Fridays?
What are you doing now?

Complete these sentences:
I usually ... on Mondays, but today I'm ... .
Right now, I'm ... . It makes me feel ... .

Can you spot which sentence is in the present simple, and which one is in the present continuous?

What a place!

Write about Kikinda or choose one of the places in Serbia. It can be a city, town or village.

  • Write an article to describe the chosen place. Use 100-120 words.
Organise your writing into 4 paragraphs:

Paragraph 1: What is its name? Where is it located? How many people live there?
Paragraph 2: What can tourists see there? What are its main landmarks? Why are they important?
Paragraph 3: What can tourists do there? What kind of entertainment is offered? Are there any special celebrations or festivals organised there?
Paragraph 4: Give your general opinion of this place. How do you feel about this place? What would you recommend?

  • Design a brochure for the place you know. It can be your hometown, or another town, city or village in Serbia.
    Include these headings:

How to Get There: Where is it located? How is it connected to the other places? How good is the public transport?
Places to See: What important sights can tourists visit? What places are worth visiting?
Things to Do: What interesting activities can tourists do? What can tourists do for entertainment?
Eating Out: Where can tourists try quality food?
Final Thought: Why is this place a must? Why should tourists visit it?
